VANCOUVER, BC – (November 17, 2008) –, an online virtual world that serves as a network for art-lovers, today announced it is opening submissions for Vancouver-area artists to display their work in a first-of-its-kind event.  Artists can submit to have their work showcased at the Autumn Brook Gallery on December 4th 2008, and approved artists will also have their work displayed within the Art Gallery in Virtual-Vancouver for a live art show that runs in the virtual world for the entire weekend.  Artwork will be sold through a sealed-bid auction, taking place in both the real-world and virtual-world art galleries.

The networking event will expose the works of sponsored artists directly to art lovers in Vancouver, BC through the real-world art show, as well as to the more than 2.5 million registered users of the Virtual World.  Art enthusiasts will be able to attend the Vancouver event to meet the artists, or they can attend the event through the free Virtual World software throughout the weekend, to meet and talk to the artists and view additional works that aren’t displayed at the main show.  Additionally, the artists will have the opportunity to build client lists and rent venues for exclusive gallery showcasing, including free links to the artist’s website.

Submissions for the showcase are due by 5PM PST on Friday, Nov. 28 to 203-1040 Hamilton Street in Vancouver. There is a $20 fee per submission and a maximum of 3 submissions per artist for display in the real-world show, with additional submissions possible for the virtual-world gallery. Artists must include suggested retail and starting bid prices and the artist retains all copyrights.
